She is doctoral tutor and have instructed more than seventy students. She is also the special contribution of the State Council Allowance Experts and got the prize as a Famous Doctor of Sun yat-sen University.

Professor Gu has anticipated in medicine and medical educaiton since 1982, and is sophisticated in diagnosing and treating rheumatic disease, with a focus on spondyloarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis , hyperuricemia and gout and other complex rheumatic diseases.

Professor Gu has published more than 100 original research publications as first author or corresponding author in the international peer-reviewed journals, including Nature Genetics, Arthritis & Rheumatism et al. Meanwhile, she has been editor in chief published several books on rheumatic disease, such as <Spondyloarthritis and Ankylosing Spondylitis> and so on.
