Introduction of the?department?of?nephrology

Department?of nephrology is a key discipline?of Guangdong province. Our mission is to provide excellent care for patients with kidney disease, hypertension?and kidney stones, to boost domestic clinical investigation in nephrology?and to support the?training and education for nephrologists.

There are 4 Professor/Chief Physicians, 4 Associate Professors/Deputy Chief Physicians, 5 attending doctors and 4 residents. We have general and specialist outpatient clinics, an inpatient wards, one peritoneal dialysis section, one blood purification section and a kidney disease laboratory. Patient comes from domestic and foreign countries, such as Southeast Asia and Japan.

In the last 10 years, we carried out 11 research projects funded by?National Nature Science Foundation of China?and 16 research projects?funded by Ministry of Health in?Guangdong province. The topics of our representative?projects are related to chronic renal failure (uremia), hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, diabetic nephropathy?and primary glomerular disease. We are the editor or participating editor for nearly 10 medical textbooks or monographs, and have published 200 papers?not only on domestic but also international academic journals. The department provides both Ph.D. and master programs in?nephrology and more than 20 students received graduated degree from our department. We corporate?with Georgetown University, Baylor College of Medicine and Northwestern University in United States?for?clinical and basic research in kidney disease.
